James T. West Ties Single Season Homerun Record

Post by ComptonNine »

After going homerless in eleven straight games, West homered in four of his last five games to match Sal Buckner's 1955 record total of 56. West has driven in 15 runs in his last seven games to push his single season rbi record total to 184 (166 was the previous record).

Several hitters had outstanding seasons, including Baltimore 's Lew Zisk who won his fifth consecutive MVP; his sixth overall. Stl's Myers knocked JB Books out of the starting, all-star lineup late in a close race which should not have even been close at all. Myers had four more homeruns, 51 more rbi and batted two points lower. It is really hard understand why the vote was close. Cin's Link Appleyard's 48 homeruns would have made him the homeruns king in all but ten of the TML's 194 seasons. There were several other outstanding performances.
