A sacred record looms...

Post by Maul725 »

After a down season last year, many around the league wondered if Corvus Williams would retire, or if he'd come back to make a run at Adam Bono's career mark of 723. He only hit 22 homers and managed to get his average up to .270 by years' end, but he was down around .230 at about midseason. So far this year, he's got 4 homers in his first 11 games and just crossed the 700 mark. He's currently at 701 and needs 23 more homeruns to break the record. He should also approach the all time doubles and possibly triples marks this year.

And he retires one home run short of tying the record. Bono will hold onto that title, but it's hard to argue against Corvus being the greatest of all time. Hats off to an extraordinary career.

Apparently he didn't want to just play for personal accolades. He knew this team wasn't going anywhere and he wasn't exactly lighting it up like earlier in his career....although I'm not sure how he could say 25 homers and 46 steals were a down year at age 38
