I'm sure I have asked this question before, but was curious if I should call up Chouinard next season? I know the rule of thumb is to usually wait until pitchers are around 23 years old or so, but he is already red letter at age 20. He will be OS21 by next off season. He is still improving well in the minors however. Thanks.

Re: Call him up?
Because he continues to improve well in the minors, he should stay there for at least one more season. His long-term imporvements should be your top priority, unless you are in a serious CP crunch. His health isn't terrible, but also isn't good enough to seriously reduce the risk of a long-term injury.
Re: Call him up?
Thanks, I don't think it should be a problem with CP's to hold him down one more season.

Re: Call him up?
My experience in system 3 leagues, where CPs are irrelevant, is that pitchers will generally get more improves in the minors regardless of their age.
The only advantage in the majors is the larger number of endurance chances you accrue but since your boy is already red letter there I advise keeping him down until you absolutely need him. He will also suffer health declines in the majors if he goes over 200 IP and will be unlikely to get more than 40 ICs in vel/control in the majors as opposed to 50+ in the minors .

Re: Call him up?
I'd leave him down until he hits A overall, or until you need him to compete. At OS23 I'd get him a minimum of 25 chances in the majors.
Re: Call him up?
Ok, thanks for the advice guys.
Re: Call him up?
0-11 in improve chances so far this season, I hope that doesn't continue.
Re: Call him up?
OS22 is almost always the worst improvement year for good pitching prospects. Be prepared for that. Majors/minors, doesn't matter, it's just going to suck.
Re: Call him up?
Ok, wasn't aware of that. Thanks.
