Draft Assessments--How'd Your Team Do?

Post by joepiker »

Speaking of the Draft, and to whomever is left around here, how'd your draft go?

With Playoff picks, OMA went into the Draft looking for blue-letter deep cuts, players others might miss. Needs are starting to arise on the team, Offensive line hasn't been great, the linebackers are Ehhh, and SS may be a concern.

What OMA managed was to get their 4th, 7th, 30th, 33rd ranked players. Even the 125th ranking turned out to be a maybe-workable player.

1st Rd: Center Maher, solid all-around player. D Attitude though. Starter immediately.

2nd: "RB" Hill, whom I didn't draft to be a RB, with B- Carry. He's a "gadget" player, with A+ Speed, A+ Agility, A Break Tackle. Only B Catch, but he's a Slot Receiver who *should* be a gamebreaker, which OMA needed. Starter Day One.

3rd: G Leroy, another perfectly solid player, needs Weight training with A- Strength. I hope he'll be the starting RG, immediately.

4th: DE Miller, A+ Potential, decently solid. He'll definitely be a top backup for a long while, maybe even a bit more.

5th: the 155th player taken, S Cole has virtually no pass-cover skills, but he's decent against the run and can tackle. On OMA, he'll be a decent backup ILB. That's good value.

I'll give OMA a solid B, maybe even B+ if the Center and the "gadget" WR turn out to be rock sturdy.

I liked my picks. Got some solid defensive reinforcements. Dell will be a long-term starter at MLB, and Prudhomme and Davis will grow into solid contributors.

Yeah, so far the Center is hurt, the “WR” couldn’t catch a pass and was benched, the G was sent to the inactives, and the rest have been cut. So yeah, not good times.
