Well half way there

Post by Michael1 »

The standings for the playoffs at the half way point have a few new faces in the contender roles in both leagues.

NL Chicago 57-24 --
NYNL 54-27---
Brooklyn 56-25 ---
Cincinnati 55-26---
Houston 48-33 7
LA 47-34 8

LA was leading in the East but has slid back, Houston may have gotten old and DirtDevil has turned around the Brooklyn team and may take over the West this one should be a exciting second half race. The AL is starting to shake out and some old guard may be on the way to the rebuild cycle.
Boston 55-26 --
Tampa Bay 53-23 --
Seattle 48-33 --
Detroit 47-34 --
------------------------
Baltimore 43-38 4
Cleveland 42-39 5
Chicago 41-40 6
This one has yet to shake out in the wild card race one hot streak puts you back in it. Lets see how the second half falls out.

So it comes down to Brooklyn hosting Chicago in a must win 3 for Chicago to take the division and home field in the NL Playoffs. The playoffs as currently constituted will be Brooklyn vs Cincinnati and New York vs Chicago in the NL and the AL has Tampa Bay vs Minnesota/Baltimore and Seattle vs Boston. The final AL wild card is still close with Minnesota and Baltimore tied at 86 wins and Chicago AL two back at 84. Chicago plays Kansas City at home and Baltimore is home with Cleveland with Minnesota playing at Tampa Bay. Minnesota has split 6 at Tampa Bay, Baltimore has a 5-1 home lead on Cleveland this season but trails the season 7-8. Chicago has struggled with KC in Chicago going 2-4 this season. Baltimore seems to have the edge but ABE is a Fickle program. We shall see over the next two days who wins it all.

Brooklyn ended the NL West drama with a win in game one of the final three. In AL Chicago is now dormie and eliminated with either a Minnesota or a Baltimore win in game two of three.
