Mega Catchup HOF Vote, 2156-2160

Post by cwballer25 »

Sorry I let this slip but its only 5 seasons so not too bad - it could have gotten ugly though!!!

2156 Retirees
Al Williams, SP, NYN

4 Cy Youngs
8x 20+ win seasons
8 AS Games (ironically, somehow during his second Cy season he did not make the AS team....how???)

278 wins
2771 K's
3.09 ERA
1.11 WHIP

Rodney Woods, Closer, CHN

7 Fireman Awards
15 AS Games (in a row)
ROY (a closer won ROY!!!)
Led league in saves 4 seasons

680 Saves (4th all time)
107 blown saves
3.32 ERA
1.22 WHIP

2157 Retirees
Randy Edwards, SS, CHN

1 MVP
10 AS Games
4 Gold Gloves

2838 hits
.285 avg
303 HR
1328 RBI
1591 runs

Mark Mathias, Closer, NYA

0 Fireman Awards
Ironically, another Closer who won ROY. Maybe not as rare as I thought...
12 AS Games

490 saves
87 blown saves
3.23 ERA
1.21 WHIP

2158 Retirees
Cloy Moret, C, SEA

14 AS Games (13 of these as starting catcher...so if you were an AL catcher during this period, sorry)
ROY
4 Gold Gloves

2938 hits
483 HR
1735 RBI
1592 runs
.292 avg

These numbers...they would be good enough for an OF let alone a catcher!!! What a stud. Unfortunately, 0 postseason appearances. Poor, poor Cloy. Maybe he can come back as a manager and lead the Pilots to the promised land.

2159 Retirees
None (let me know if I missed anyone but didnt see much!)

2160 Retirees
Bobby Haislip, 2B, TB

1 MVP
11 AS Games
5 Gold Gloves
Iron Man - played every game 13 seasons in a row
Led league in AB's 12 times
Led league in runs 7 times
Led league in hits 8 times

3510 hits (11th all time)
.310 avg (35th all time)
1968 runs (23rd all time)
414 HR
484 SB (400/400 club)
546 doubles (32nd all time)
1498 RBI (come on 2 more!)

John Weaver, OF, TB

2 MVPs
9 AS Games
3 Gold Gloves

2958 hits
.284 avg
1747 runs
448 HR
1716 RBI
387 SB

Derek Mack, 2B, NYA

4 MVP's
11 AS Games
2 seasons of OPS 1.000+

3076 hits
.296 avg
1780 runs
446 HR
1503 RBI

No to Mathias. I was teetering on Edwards but the 7 World Series Championships pushes me to vote yes.

No to Edwards and Mathias. Took a second look at Edwards, but other than his MVP moment, not one season that anyone would call outstanding.

No to Mathias.

Then just general knowledge it is actually easier to win ROY as a RP than any other position. The SP have their all star score multiplied by .6. But RP do not, so if the RP pitches a lot and they have decent numbers they are a shoe in for ROY.
